Waterford

Lismore Castle Gardens

The castle built in 1185 is closed to the public but exclusive private use of the castle can be hired by groups. The charming Lismore Castle Gardens are open to the public on a daily basis during high season and visitors are invited to stroll through 7 acres of lush, pretty and historic garden scenery.

Reginald’s Tower

Waterford’s most identifiable landmark, Reginald’s Tower on the Quay in Waterford City is Ireland’s oldest urban civic building. Built in 1185, Reginald’s tower is believed to be the first building in Ireland constructed with the use of mortar and it is also the oldest monument in Ireland to retain its original Viking name.

St. Declan’s Cathedral

St Declan’s Church in Ardmore, County Waterford, was built sometime during the 12th century and its grounds are home to one of the finest examples of a round tower in Ireland. The ruined cathedral has a host of fascinating Romanesque carvings depicting religious scenes.

Waterford Treasures Museums – The Viking Triangle

Three Museums in close proximity which tell the story of Waterford City – Ireland’s oldest city . The story starts at Reginald’s Tower where sightseers can visit the onsite Viking Museum. Next on the journey is the Medieval Museum which is a tribute to live in the city during that time with carefully preserved structures within its walls. Lastly the Bishop’s Palace Museum continues the historical journey highlighting the periods 1700 – 1970.

Waterford Crystal

Founded in 1783 Waterford Crystal is world famous for its intricate and high quality crystal pieces. The visitor centre in Waterford City invites guests to learn and observe the processes involved in the making of the beautiful glass and will see the highly skilled craftspeople at work.

Ardmore

Situated in West Waterford Ardmore is a charming fishing village and family resort with a splendid beach. It is most well know for the ecclesiastical remains located on the hill beside the village St. Declan’s Cathedral.

Dungarvan

Dungarvan is Waterford’s largest coastal town and as such is a lively market town with a busy fishing industry. The town is a popular base for Anglers, Cyclists, walkers and climbers and it offers a good base to explore the South East.

Waterford City

The oldest city in Ireland, Waterford City was founded when the Vikings established a port here in 914. World famous for its Waterford Crystal Glass the Waterford Crystal Visitor Center is well worth a visit, other attractions include Reginald’s Tower (the first defensive structure built by the Vikings) and the Waterford Treasure Museums.
