The Cavan Way
This 26 km designated National Waymarked Trail follows a walking route between the village of Dowra and the village of Blacklion taking the visitor through the rugged countryside of area. The pleasing long distance Ireland sightseeing walk through gentle hills and valleys with quite riverside and valley landscapes brings you past the Shannon Pot where the renowned river Shannon rises. This is one of the nicest things to do in County Cavan !
Drumlane Monastic Site
Drumlane Monastry and Monastic Site occupies a beautiful setting at the edge of a picturesque lake. Located beside the village of Milltown and approx 6km from the town of Belturbet in Cavan Ireland, it is believed that Drumlane Monastry was founded in the 6th century and the property is home to some interesting and ancient stone carvings.
Killykeen Forest Park
Killykeen Forest Park is an ideal place to view and enjoy Lough Oughter one of the most scenic lakes in the area. Located approx 5 miles (8km) from Cavan town the park is a popular with anglers and boaters and there are a number of marked trails for visitors to explore.
Ballyconnell
Located on the Shannon Erne Waterway Ballyconnell is a charming and energetic town. Situated approx 28km from Cavan town, Ballyconnell is popular with fishermen due to its prime location on the waterway and the town also offers superb views of Slieve Russell Mountain

Killeshandra
A small serene village with a strong traditional music culture, Killeshandra is approx 11 miles (18km) from Cavan Town. The name in Gaelic is Cill na Seanrátha meaning Church of the Old Rath (ring forts) and the village has many intriguing heritage sites nearby.
