Royal Portrush Golf Club – Golf Clubs Ireland
With two links courses on offer at Royal Portrush Golf Club and striking views in all directions, it is little wonder Royal Portrush is one of the most popular and highly rated in golf clubs Ireland.
Located in Northern Ireland on the idyllic North Antrim Coast with views of the Hills of Donegal, Isle of Islay, Southern Hebrides and the Giant’s Causeway Royal Portrush Golf Club is home to two championship links courses, the world famous Dunluce Course and the lesser know but well designed test of links golf that is the Valley Course.
The Royal Portrush Dunluce Links ranks among the greatest courses in golf clubs Ireland and indeed the world and is home to one of the most challenging and impressive par 4s in golf, the 411 yard 5th hole and the course it is widely regarded as Harry Colt’s masterpiece.
Gary McNeill, Head PGA Professional, Royal Portrush Golf Club
Set on the spectacular North Antrim coast, the Dunluce Links at Royal Portrush Golf Club sets the standard for true Links golf courses. Consistently ranked among the top dozen courses in the world, it’s challenging but fair layout measures just under 7200 yards from the Championship tees. Royal Portrush Golf Club recently hosted the 2012 Irish Open on the European Tour and remains the only course outside of Scotland or England to have hosted the Open Championship which it did back in 1951 although there is much speculation that the Open will make a return to Royal Portrush Golf Club in the not too distant future.
