Foynes Flying Boat and Maritime Museum

Located in village of Foynes 38km (24miles) from Limerick City the Flying Boat Museum brings the visitor back to an era when Foynes was a world aviation centre from 1939 to 1945 and notable events included the first direct commercial passenger flight from the USA to Europe.

Lough Gur Stone Age Centre

Lough Gur stone age settlement, located approximately 25 minutes drive from Limerick City, is one of the most important stone age sites in Ireland. Among the finds at Lough Gur are a large number of standing stones and ancient graves including megalithic tombs. The visitor centre houses a range of displays and audiovisual presentations.

Castleconnell

Castleconnel 11km (7 miles) from Limerick city is a charming village on the banks of the River Shannon and close to county boundaries with Clare and Tipperary. With river walks to explore and friendly locals Castleconnell is a popular location for angling and relaxing.

Limerick City

Founded by the Vikings in the 10th century Limerick is the third largest city in the Republic of Ireland and is a hub of commercial activity with a good variety of accommodations, restaurants and pubs. Main attractions include The Hunt Museum – home to one of the finest collections of antiquities in Ireland, King Johns Castle and St Mary’s Cathedral.

Newcastle West

Newcastle West is the largest town (outside of Limerick City) in County Limerick. Located in the West of the county Newcastle developed around a castle built between the late 12th and early 13th century and the well maintained ruins of the castle can still be seen today just off the town square.
