Fota Island Resort – 3 Parkland Irish Golf Courses

Just a few miles drive from Cork City, Cork International Airport and Cork Ferries is Fota Island Resort incorporating 3 of the best configurations of Parkland Irish Golf Courses in the region.  Fota Island Resort is situated in the heart of a stunning 780 acre estate and comprises 27 holes of championship parkland golf offering 3 possible configurations for 18 hole Irish golf courses, The Deerpark (Holes 1 – 18, The Belvelly (holes 10 – 27) and The Barryscourt (holes 19 to 27 & 1 –  9).

The Deerpark at Fota Island Resort (the original 18 holes) with its strategic bunkering will challenge both the long and short games of golfers of all abilities. The Belvelly which incorporates the newer of the nine hole layouts created by Jeff Howes covers 7121 yards and will challenge the most competitive golfer while The Barryscourt which also incorporates the newer of the 9 hole layouts extends to 7362 yards, with gently rolling greens offers a great chance to produce a good score.

I think it is great news that the Irish Open will be played at Fota Island.

A great break from the wind and rain on the surrounding links golf courses. Fota island resort was a welcome refreshing break. Easy to locate and a fabulous facility. I would go back when on tour.

Fota island resort has three nine hole stretches. These are mixed to give a different 18 holes every day. All golf courses were in great condition. Belvelly back nine seems to be a bit newer and not as well established as the other two nines. Be careful on the 14th tee of Belvelly as it is near the golf academy and the tee is littered with range balls. Fota Island Resort club house is very good with excellent food with large portions at fairly reasonable prices. I had one of the best portions of fish and chips for a long time.
