Ballybunion Golf Club

Ballybunion Golf Club, situated in the north of idyllic and serene County Kerry approx 50 Minutes drive from Kerry Airport, is home to two exceptional and challenging links courses, Ballybunion Old Course and Ballybunion Cashen Course.

The world renowned and timeless Ballybunion Old Course is a must play for any golf aficionado, with an almost completely natural design, minimal changes were made by golf course architect Tom Simpson in 1936 which he graciously called “finishing touches” bringing the Ballybunion Old course to what it is today – one of the top courses in the world and regularly rated in the top 10 in Britain and Ireland.

Ballybunion Cashen Course, built in the 1980’s, is a wonderful test of golf from start to finish and requires a high level of accuracy, especially off the tee.  If Ballybunion Cashen Course was anywhere else it would receive much more acclaim and interest but it remains largely a hidden gem when having the Ballybunion Old Course as its more famous sibling.

With offers available including a round on each of the courses, playing the 36 holes at Ballybunion Golf Club is a challenge that should be accepted when opportune and playing both courses on the same day is a popular option.

Sean Kennelly, Captain, Ballybunion Golf Club
We, the members at Ballybunion Golf Club, are proud to be custodians of two of the finest links courses in the world – the renowned Ballybunion Old Course and the challenging Robert Trent Jones Cashen Course. May I extend a warm Ballybunion Golf Club welcome to visiting golfers in 2014. I hope that you enjoy all that we have to offer – great golf and wonderful hospitality.

First 6 or 7 holes are nice, but the Ballybunion Old Course explodes at that point with incredible dune lined fairways and incredibly interesting and difficult green complexes. The back nice is maybe the best nine holes I have ever played. Condition of the course was excellent, greens were good, the rough is severe, bunkers are deep, greens are very severely sloped with false fronts and steep runoffs on the sides and back…..this is not the course for the inexperienced golfer. Take a caddy if you play at Ballybunion Golf Club….it will greatly enrich the experience, and help you greatly with lines off the tv, distances and putting.

This was one of 7 golf courses we played while in Ireland! I can’t say enough about what a fantastic experience it was! The Caddys at Ballybunion Golf Club were awesome and the golf course amazing!
All in all for a high handicapper as myself! I can assure you, a low handicap is not necessary to fully appreciate the experience of golf at its finest![/sixColumns]
