Doonbeg Resort Purchased by Donald Trump

Billionaire property mogul Donald Trump has bought the 5 Star Doonbeg Resort and Golf Club for an estimated €15m. The property which home to the renowned Greg Norman designed 18 hole championship links course is set to have the course name changed from Doonbeg to Trump International Golf Links, Ireland.

Mr Trump from New York and with an estimated net worth of 2.9 Billion already has a portfolio of other golf resorts around the world. Asked about his acquisition of Doonbeg he said “Doonbeg is an already terrific property that we will make even better – it will be soon be an unparalleled resort destination with the highest standards of luxury. It’s a very special piece of land on the Atlantic. A lot wanted it, but we will do a better job. All of my clubs are highly successful and Ireland will be too. We love Ireland. We’ve been there many times and Ireland has treated us well”
